There is, perhaps, no more photographed image on Cape Ann than the Twin Lights on Thacher Island. Now that virtually everyone carries a camera in their pocket, it’s your chance to see how well you can capture the beauty of the islands.
In the past, we have relied on professional photographers to provide us with photos for our annual calendar. In 2023 we will be using the winning entries from a new photo contest.
You are invited to submit multiple images that capture the unique characteristics of Thacher or Straitsmouth Islands. All images must be taken in landscape format, and might focus on landscapes, wildlife, lighthouses and other buildings, or still life. Twelve winning images will be selected and used in the TIA 2023 calendar, as well as be posted on the website. TIA will include a photographer credit with any reproduced photographs.
All the details regarding image guidelines and how to submit your photographs are included in the Photo Contest Rules & Requirements. There is an entry fee of $5.00 (waived for TIA volunteers) to enter. Be sure to download and complete this Entry Form along with your photographs. The entry fee can be submitted by check with your form, or online at Photo Contest Entry Fee. The fee is waived for TIA volunteers.
All entries must be submitted by August 15, 2022 and winners will be notified by early September. For more information, contact photocontest@thacherisland.org.
